Two Roads

Concepts of Editing

Brief by Makoto Yamada (University of Arts London, Central St. Martins)

Two Roads

In "Two Roads" you can experience the constant battle of morality in the human race through images. In this small book, you can interchange the pages to create your own story and thus have a therapeutic experience as to what you believe is wrong and right. As humans we are constantly battling with ourselves to make the right decision and this book explores the construct behind our personal ethicality.

Collect and contribute 12 existing images to our communal archive. We will have 132 images total from 11 classmates. Design and edit your own project using the images in the archive, and using any format relevant to your concept (books, performance, video, etc).

“Editing” here doesn't mean editing images in Photoshop to create a new imagery, but curating, sequencing and arranging the images to create a narrative story based on your concept. You can alter the images (crop, scale, colourise, etc.) if your concept requires it, however, it is important not to lose the meaning of each image during editing.
